Feed A Smile is a programme run by Live and Learn Kenya (LLK) to provide nutritious warm lunches for over 400 children every day, paid for entirely from donations to the project. It is part of a broader programme managed by LLK, which includes finding sponsors to finance the education of children in Kenya, helping to provide them with everything they need: uniforms, shoes, text books, school supplies, etc., and even building a school in Nakuru, Kenya.
In addition, the organisation also provides medical and dental care for children, including check-ups and vaccinations. 100% of the donations received by LLK are transferred directly to Kenya to care for children, provide education, medicine, food, shelter and foster care. Nothing is lost to salaries, fees or administrative costs at LLK.
Feed A Smile in Second Life plays a major role in LLK’s Feed A Smile meal efforts – over one-third of the money entering the programme comes directly from Second Life donations. Second Life users have also played a significant role in helping to fund the construction of the Nakuru school project and in raising $37,000 for a new kitchen to provide those nutritious meals for the children.
We are pleased and honoured to announce that, starting from February 2017, Holly Kai Park is an official supporter for Feed A Smile SL. Donation kiosks can be found throughout the park at our major venue areas: the landing point, the Pavilion live events area, Caitinara Bar and the art exhibition stage area. We invite all visitors to consider making a donation to Feed A Smile through these kiosks.
In addition, while we do not charge for the use of our event facilities for private functions, opening events, etc., we do accept donations on behalf Feed A Smile by those booking them. Such donations can also be made through the kiosks or, if you prefer, please contact Park Manager HollyKai Resident to discuss the specifics of any donation you would like to make.
